People who say "immigrants take the jobs that British won't do"?

It's a British thing and unfortunately true. My boyfriend is German and has always worked in hospitality/catering. Where he is from, there is no shame in being a waiter and waiters take pride in their customer service and professionalism, while the British will think of it as being merely menial and want something better. Which probably explains why so many waiters in top London restaurants aren't British.
