How do French people feel about Inspector Clouseau from the Pink Panther movies?

OMG! I love that character Inspector Clouseau. Peter Seller's who was British is genius. LOL the Great Britain and France have always has a kind of funny rivalry in their movies. British tend to take comic jabs at the French and I'm sure French take comical jabs at the British. But the French on Inspector Clouseau? I'm not french but I think they probably took the character in stride. He was played so well by Peter Sellers. Remember the French love Jerry Lewis.
